I’ve been researching apps that I've considered viral, and I think implementing virality at a system or functionality level might feel unnatural and even limiting because virality depends heavily on the audience and use case, and Omi itself is quite broad in what it can do.
Recording is a feature, but for virality, you need a niche reason for people to engage and share—like how BeReal, Locket, Sendit, Slay, and TBH are designed around specific social behaviors and target audiences.
With that in mind, I thought about adding the recording feature alongside a quick menu that provides a library of ‘actions.’ These actions could include things like recording a 5-minute one-take video to send to followers or contacts, bereal style. However, I see these actions more akin to an app within Omi’s app store rather than a core system-level feature
so then i thought these actions could be widgets. Apps could create their own widgets that would then be available from the recording flow. This way a bereal style app could be created, and then listed in the recording section through a widget. There could even be a widget of the day mechanism or something like that
So i was wondering, could you explain what you mean by viral flow or is this close to what you were envisioning?
omi mobile app is capable to record without the device but we don't leverage it and we disabled recording from the phone
let's design a VIRAL recording flow from mobile
What it means: it should have a viral effect integrated in the flow. People should share the app organically just because of this recording feature
