Interesting issue. I'm not sure how we'd "switch off" the localisation after the plugin is built. Just to be clear : if you paste in the EN version of a function, the calculation editor doesn't understand it, and expects the DE name? In other words the calc engine only "knows" the current language version and can't accept both, and translate back to DE for display? |

yes, your description "Just to be clear: ..." it is correct. Honestly, I used since years only the english function names for the BaseElements-Plugin and in the editor the function list showed only the english function names for the BaseElements-Plugin. I am using FM 21.1.1.41 (09-28-2024) and macOS 15.3.1 (24D70). I am working on a weekly basis with BaseElements-Plugin function and became aware of the german function names only recently. Maybe that with the recent upgrade from macOS 14.X to macOS 15.3 and then to macOS 15.3.1 on my MacBook Pro has changed the localization "conditions". Also I noticed in the FM editor function list for the german BaseElements-Plugin function names, some functions had no names but were referenced only by a number 5XX. In the meantime I removed de.lproj/Localizable.strings from the plugin. |

Documentation for BaseElements-Plugin functions refers to the english name of each function. In a macos FileMaker environment, that is localized to german, the BaseElements-Plugin shows all functions in a german localized naming. For some FileMaker user this could be an advantage, but it is also somebit confusing as the english name of the documented function does not translate/map automatically to the german name as it is the case for FileMaker native functions (by pasting english named function in to the function-/calculation editor).
But this automatic translation/mapping of function naming is not my "aim" for BaseElements-Plugin. Rather I would prefer that localization could be switched off at all (yes I can remove de.lproj/Localizable.strings from the plugin) or the in the "de" localization string the english function names are maintained.
