One could think about a GUI skin resembling Dotd. Visual attractiveness and resemblance to the game should improve its rating a lot. I could easily create a GUI skin resembling Dotd, with less time and resource spending. However, one great contra is copyright. Even if I create it with resources being licensed under the CC license, 5PG might be grumpy about it. If we second this idea, we might get into a short contact with them, presenting our situation and ask for their Okay to create a resembling GUI skin or, if they are kind, be provided with some basic GUI elements, like buttons. I doubt that would actually happen, but one can try, right ?

What do you think of the basic idea ?

I don't want to reuse their assets if at all possible, but a redesign is intended, also see:

I likely forgot a few of those actually.

ok, maybe others also have an opinion on that, but regarding the look of the UI, I'd rather have something relatively simple and clean - needs to work on all platforms after all.
One based on the game might look very out of place on platforms with colorful backgrounds, like the ones newgrounds and dawnofthedragons have.

Other opinions?

It could have a strong outline to clearly seperate it from whatever the background is. About the design one might decide freely of course. I do think though that having a similar style as the game itself, with not fading into it but clearly being seperated ( maybe with shadows'n'stuff), one could relate it to the game itself.

Actually, would be great to have, sort of, "field testing" for all participant ;) Just use application and try to think of a way to simplify or what would be a better place for a setting tab or how to organize a raid list, so that you would use it more often?

After that write all your thoughts here and we can proceed with design ;)

This way we would tackle the main problem of UI - usability ;) Skin or styles I could draw few options which I have in my mind. Both simple on in colors of dotd and second grey/black in same style as Mutiks script.
