Ideas on how to get more reach for ISC Learning Path

A long time ago (well, Aug 2020) we opened an issue looking at options for where we might also publish the ISC Learning Path Content (as well as on the ISC website) to increase reach.

This discussion is to capture the activity that was done around that in the past, and provide a place to capture ideas for the future.

What was done / What we learned

• All the Learning Path videos have playlists on our YouTube channel and continue to rank in our most popular videos every month.
• We investigated various platforms as options (specifically Pluralsight, LinkedIn Learning, Coursera) - but learned the following: these platforms preferred content built specifically (sometimes exclusively) for their platform, and they were sometimes behind paywalls. This would mean significant effort would be required to maintain them as primary publishing platforms, efforts for each wouldn't scale, and content created for each would not be easily accessible by the whole community.
• It is noted that another learning was that some of the platforms also have micro-credentials / badging - which would introduce another layer of complexity for ISC to manage.

Current Status

• As we were investigating these issues we were simultaneously working on ways to increase reach of the ISC community as a whole. We have managed to increase reach and engagement, which we believe is in part due to the Marketing WG efforts - this has in turn lead to increased views/engagement with our Learning Path content.
• Since we started investigation, some private individuals / orgs have created some InnerSource offerings for platforms like this. (e.g. [Adopting an InnerSource Culture with Pluralsight].(https://www.pluralsight.com/courses/adopting-innersource-culture-github) on Pluralsight)
• In addition, some of our community members have inquired about whether they could have ISC Learning Path content on their internal InnerSource Portals - a path we now exploring on a separate issue/thread.

For the moment, those originally looking at this have de-prioritized further investigation of additional host platforms.

Ideas for the future

If we do decide to increase priority of this in the future, here are some ideas about the next steps:

• Publish it on Degreed or aggregator website (no paywall/accessibility concerns).
• Focus on SEO for more discoverability
