Components of 'energy distribution system'

The way how an energy distribution system is composed should be describable by bringing some technologies together. Technologies on their role combine artificial objects (in this case energy distribution system's components) or other material entities in a specific way.

Ideas of solution

  • add 'energy distribution system components' (e.g. cables, etc..) as a sub class of 'artificial object'
  • add 'electricity distribution system' as sub class 'supply system'/'energy system'
  • add 'electricity distribution technology' as a 'technology'
  • make 'electricity distribution system' applying 'electricity distribution technology'

So one can, for example, constraint the specification of a distribution system or describe a distribution system to a model.

Further more one can define some measurable quantities characterising such systems.

Workflow checklist

  • I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
  • I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
  • The goal of this ontology is clear to me

I am aware that

  • every entry in the ontology should have a definition
  • classes should arise from concepts rather than from words

Thanks for the proposal @koubaa-hmc. Adding a concept for electricity distribution technology is sensible.

I have some questions to clarify:

  • add 'electricity distribution system' as sub class 'supply system'/'energy system'

Is your proposed electricity distribution system equivalent to the already existing power system OEO_00360017 A power system is an energy system covering the generation, transportation, distribution and consumption of electrical energy.?

  • If yes, we should add "electricity distribution system" as alternative label.
  • If not, how would you differentiate? Could you propose a definition?
  • add 'energy distribution system components' (e.g. cables, etc..) as a sub class of 'artificial object'

Same as above: is your proposed energy distribution system comüponent equivalent to the existing gird component OEO_00020006 ?

Even though the OP seems to be no longer active, should we look into this? Make our own choices regarding the new concepts?

Since we have no reason to assume electricity distribution system to be different from power system I believe going with the alternative lable would be a good choice.

The second question is trickier. Energy distribution system component was meant to means something like "cable" or maybe "plug" and I feel like it starts where the energy grid ends. But that may be due to my limited understanding of grid component.

A more detailed distrinction into power systems is part of #1960.

@madbkr take a look at OEO_00020006 for the detailed grid component hierarchy (not yet exhaustive though)
