How can I access the item the current dragged element is dragged to?

Hi,
I could use evt.item.previousElementSibling and evt.item.nextElementSibling but I think in some cases they won't give the expected value.
Is there a more general method to access such item (the one that is automatically "moved" because another item has been dragged to it)?
