Is it possible to draw frontal chats using MetPy?

I think fronts is on the current planned list for v1.1.

And there's a relevant open issue #1153 which discusses front drawing and plans so seems like it's in the pipeline but the main developers will be able to provide the latest details.

@dopplershift First of all thanks for having such a thought about developing such a prototype in this. Actually, I am going through a case study at mid-latitudes, so I want to see how does frontal analysis will look like a first analysis. I wish it was possible using commonly available datasets like NCEP GFS or ERA-5, I could be wrong though about its possibility.

Our plan for MetPy is to include support for parsing WPC analyzed fronts, not sure if those would be helpful for your use case.

Howdy, my NWS text archive should have the CODSUS archived back to 1984 or so. My current APIs require you to know the timestamp of the product issuance, but I could easily create a web service that emits the "nearest" CODSUS for a given timestamp. Just throwing this out there for consideration.

I think Iowa State University - Mesonet is a good source for archives of CODSUS information obtained from NWS.

If these figures can be plotted using Digital Atmosphere, it would be great if these can be produced by using MetPy. I am looking forward to seeing these features soon. If any requirements can be fulfilled by me I could try my best @dopplershift .

Just FYI, there are draft PRs in #2420 to plot the fronts, #1944 to parse the WPC bulletins.
