Command: ci" to find nearest "

It's all based on this video which gives a quick tip. Let me make an example

| This is a line of Text with "this"
-> command ci"
This is a line of Text with "|"

This obviously should work with every other movement similiar to this as well...

I tried to reproduce it with vscode vim but it wouldn't work. Is it not supported (it would be very useful) or is there an option for it?

Oh no. Wait... this is actually working regarding the (") and (') but not for (, [ or {? Is there a reason why?

Vim only behaves this way with quotes, not parentheses/brackets/etc. On the other hand, di" only works within one line while di) works across lines.

I really enjoy vim and this plugin and would like to contribute in a meaningful way. Do you have tips on how to get started? Is there any material on how this plugin works? I know TS and looked into the code but can't make sense of any of that
