Operating system

Fedora Linux 41 (Workstation Edition)

YouTube Music Desktop App Version

v0.14.5-rc10

Bug description

The widget related to the app with the status of the currently playing song and the pause, play, next and previous song buttons sometimes is not showing up on the GNOME desktop environment, and when it does, the next/previous song buttons doesn't work even if you have songs in a queue.

I also tried skipping and play the previous song functions with my headphones but it also didn't work. I don't know if this is a Wayland related issue so I open this ticket just in case.

Screenshot From 2024-12-18 13-23-49

Until now, I wasn't able to make the widget appear in order to take it a screenshot, so I'll upload this one using the Brave browser to get an idea of the widget in question.

Hi, @EmRodDev. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the ytmdesktop2 team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • The YouTube Music Desktop App widget intermittently fails to appear on Fedora Linux 41's GNOME desktop.
  • Next and previous song buttons are non-functional.
  • Similar issues reported by @ex1side on Plasma 6 (CachyOS).
  • @Venipa notes the app uses mpris via xosms for media state sharing on Linux and invites development help.

Next Steps:

  • Please confirm if this issue is still relevant with the latest version of ytmdesktop2. If so, you can keep the discussion open by commenting here.
  • If there is no further activity, the issue will be automatically closed in 14 days.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!
