issue with Adding New Fields in SQL Lab and Reflecting in Charts

Dear Superset Team

I am encountering an issue with Apache Superset where newly added fields in SQL Lab are not being reflected in the charts. I have to recreate the reports with the new fields from scratch, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

Could you please guide me on how to ensure that new fields added in SQL Lab are automatically updated in the charts without having to rebuild them entirely?

I found similar threads that might help you with this issue.

1. In an open issue, the suggested solution is to save the new virtual dataset and then sync the columns. You can do this by using the "sync columns" button located under the "Columns" tab within the Datasource Editor. After saving your changes, ensure that you sync the columns to reflect the updated SQL query in your chart ^[1].

2. In a closed issue, two methods were suggested:

   • Method Add pandas-highcharts as requirements #1: Go to Sources -> Tables, remove the SQL LAB VIEW filter, and refresh. Edit the record of the table you want to update, modify the SQL query, add new columns under the "Columns" tab, and save. Then, check the chart for the updated columns.
   • Method Fix documentation #2: Navigate to SQL Lab -> Saved queries, edit the query, run it, save with an update option, and then explore to rebuild the chart ^[2].

These methods should help you update your charts without having to recreate them from scratch.
