Hi, I'm not an android developer, but I would love to see this feature. What can I do to help the project to get this going?

Sorry for the late answer. Not much actually. It would just take some time to code it. But I have not nearly enough for this little side project nowadays.

Sure, Joda-Time cannot do this and is now only in maintenance mode. But my lib Time4A has full support for such astronomical calculations and also includes all features what Joda-Time can do. So with the replacement of Joda-Time by Time4A (sensible in order to constrain the size of the app), there would be a good perspective to realize this feature (sunrise/sunset) or even moonrise/moonset/moonphase. See for example the API.

I could work on such a replacement (looks rather easy) and offer a pull request (latest in second half of March) but the question arises if you are still interested to see such an enhancement to your world clock app. The remaining work for you would just be to display the data of rise/set-events.

Thanks for the offer! I looked at Time4J and am quite impressed. Lots of features and documentation. Good work 👍
I myself am not maintaining the app anymore. @dasbiswajit has taken over most of the maintenance work. It's up to him to decide whether to include this feature and replace Joda-Time.

@dasbiswajit: what do you think about this?

@MenoData a pull request will be a good to start with. As currently I am focusing on compatibility of latest Android version.
