cdnjs as a service will remain operational with no ill effects to websites using us but at current we are not
publishing new updates or new libraries.
We hope to have this resolved soon and are really sorry to anyone affected by this.
Key Highlights
This month (October 2019), cdnjs served just under 174 billion requests. 🖥
cdnjs used a massive consumption of 3.02 PB of data to serve these requests this month. 📤
That's nearly 98 terabytes of data and 5.6 billion requests each day (averaged). 🤯
In October, each request to cdnjs used only 17.37 KB of data on average. 🔍
Library Highlights
Lodash (4.17.11) jumped to the top again this month with 8.7 billion requests.
jQuery remains near the top though (in 2nd place) with version 3.3.1 getting 4.2 billion requests.
Across all versions of jQuery in the top 100 (12 versions), this totalled to a massive 10.7 billion requests.
FontAwesome (4.7.0) also remains near the top with 4 billion requests using 26.3 TB of bandwidth.
Between all the FontAwesome files in the top 100 resources, they used 263 TB of data with 8.6 billion requests.
The top library overall remained GreenSock's GSAP with 10.8 billion combined requests.
This down from last month's 11.6 billion but more in line with August where there were also 10.8 billion requests.
Total Number of Requests
The first important stat that we are given is the total number of requests sent to cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
Cloudflare provides this number to us at a 1% sample for the whole month, giving 1,695,312,221 at 1%.
This is 169,531,222,100 when multiplied up to 100%.
We are also given a number of requests for 3 days at a 100% sample, which is 17,269,356,520.
This is 178,450,017,373 when recalculated for the 31 days of October.
To provide the best possible estimate for the entire month, an average of both numbers will be used to generate the
estimate for the final number of requests for the month.
This results in cdnjs serving approximately 173,990,619,737 requests in October.
Just under 174 billion requests or approximately 5.6 billion requests every single day of October. 📈
This is up compared to previous months that saw 157 & 165 billion in September and August respectively.
Most likely, this jump is caused by the increased number of requests to lodash, like we saw in July.
Total Bandwidth Usage
Another great stat that Cloudflare has given us again is the bandwidth usage for the cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain.
This number, like total requests, is provided at a 1% sample for the month and in gigabytes: 29,569.81 GB.
This is 2,956,981.0 GB or 2.96 PB when multiplied up to be 100%.
Additionally, a 3 day 100% sample is given by Cloudflare at 298,844.73 GB.
This results in 3,088,062.2 GB or 3.09 PB for the month.
As with the total number of requests and due to the significant difference between the two, both numbers will be used to
calculate an average for the final estimate of bandwidth consumed this month.
This produces the estimate of 3,022,521.6 GB of bandwidth used for this month by cdnjs.
This gives cdnjs a massive bandwidth consumption of 3.02 petabytes of data for requests in October. 🤯
Like the total number of requests, the bandwidth usage for this month is also increased when compared to September and
August where we only saw 2.65 & 2.8 PB of usage respectively.
This is also likely due to the increased number of requests that cdnjs saw this month, though the data per request did
jump from 16.1 KB last month to 17.4 KB this month.

These are provided at a 1% sample for the whole of October.
Bandwidth is measured in gigabytes.
This data, as well as previous months' data, is available in the SQLite data.db file.
