We had a monkeypatch to fix this, but had to comment it out when upgrading to Meteor 1.3. See: https://github.com/jfly/ccm/blob/9aa2bfa308ac72e01355f9ee298e23cb4d0f11bf/both/collections/users.js#L67-L83.
