I'm also having this problem, I thought it was only in my project but in external urls it also gives the same error

Not sure if still the same, but no support for mp4: https://github.com/cztomczak/phpdesktop/wiki/Knowledge-Base#audio-and-video-support-in-php-desktop-chrome

Some years back I had to use https://ableplayer.github.io/ableplayer/ (not even sure maintained now, but you get the idea).

You can enable proprietary codecs by building CEF/Chromium from sources with the proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding=Chrome GN arguments.
