Operating System and Version

ZorinOS 17.2 (ubuntu 22.04)

Distribution

AppImage v 0.10

Description

If a file that is currently open, and has focus, in Notepad Next is changed externally then the editor pane does not update to reflect those changes.

If you switch to a different tab and then switch back then the file is updated and external changes can be seen.

The editor also updates to the externally changed version if you minimise and then maximise the Notepad Next window.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open file in Notepad Next
  2. Change the file in an external application and save
  3. Notepad Next is not updated unless you switch to a different tab & then switch back or minimise/maximise window.

Additional Details

  • It would be desirable to show a warning in a similar way to Notepadqq to alert the user and give them the option of updating the file in the editor
  • Even better if auto-update of file in editor could be turned on and off in settings.
