Datahub displays thumbnails in several places: activity feed, search, dataset page. The image is cropped to fit into a rectangular box with a different ratio, making it impossible to choose the right image ratio so that the thumbnails never gets cropped.

eg:

  • search thumb : 206x142 - ratio is 1.450704225 ...
  • dataset thumb : 313x183 - ratio is 1.710382514 ...
  • activity feed ....

Also, the customer asked for consistent with geonetwork's original thumb display, though this might be harder to achieve.
