Hi all,

What's the best way to cite this package? I'm a geoscientist and use it quite often for basemaps. I want to give credit!

Hello @jameshgrn , sorry for the slow reply, this slipped my radar...

We don't have a reference for the package yet. There's a plan for a JOSS paper in the horizon, but the pandemic has really limited our bandwidth so we're really just staying afloat for now... Hopefully more news on this soon :)

Hi! Any news on this? I would like to reference it as well! Thanks in advance and congratulations for the great job!

Thanks @feliuserra, unfortunately not, but we have "summer plans", hopefully we can get to it and we'll provide an update on this issue so you get pinged. Thank you very much for using contextily!

Same here, really want to give the credits!

Here some very basic proposition for a bibtex entry, until an official way of citing is provided. Of course any improvement is welcome:

@software{contextily_software,
  author = {Dani Arribas-Bel},
  title = {contextily: context geo tiles in Python},
  url = {https://contextily.readthedocs.io},
  year = {2023},
  license = {BSD 3-Clause New}
}
