@narqo mentioned in a recent issue that the planning capacity doc was written from the perspective of a user migrating to Mimir from some other prometheus setup. Could that be called out in the Planning Capacity doc in some way? Maybe by including which metrics to query in Mimir or directing users to the appropriate Mimir Reads/Writes/Alertmanager dashboards.

This stems from a similar problem I was working on where I needed to be able to estimate additional capacity requirements for new ingest. Eventually found the correct metrics but was initially surprised the recommended metrics did not exist.
