Environment and Versions

  • Terraform Backend/Provider Configuration:
provider "aws" {
  skip_credentials_validation = true
  skip_get_ec2_platforms      = true
  skip_metadata_api_check     = true
  skip_requesting_account_id  = true
}
  • AWS environment variables (if any):
AWS_PROFILE =<profile>

Expected Behavior

Authentication should not have been tried.

Actual Behavior

Failed with error

Error: configuring Terraform AWS Provider: no valid credential sources for Terraform AWS Provider found.
...
AWS Error: failed to refresh cached credentials, operation error STS: AssumeRole, https response error StatusCode: 403, RequestID: *****, api error InvalidClientTokenId: The security token included in the request is invalid.
