Yogi has left a new comment on the post "Tiled Qt 0.8.0 released":

Please add "polygon and polyline objects" display points numeration. It's useful for scripting (on start go to point 008, then go to 005). Now it is imposible.

It would be better when Yogi would enter the issue himself, since then he would get noticed if I have additional questions. For example, is it important that these numbers are persistent, or would an option to display the point indexes be enough? Persistent numbers is basically not possible to do nicely.

The simple way for you and for me (parsing) is when you add numbers taken from xml points sequence.
Sample
Scripter can write move script in Polygon or Polyline object properties. Points sequence is his problem :)

Just like how the name of objects are displayed above them, when we select a polyline, we should display all its nodes along with point indices above them, right?

This issue seems also relevant for those who need to place their polygon points in a certain order: https://discourse.mapeditor.org/t/polygons-can-point-order-be-reversed/6973
