Why was the rust logo replaced? #2488

The icon went from this why? Was this a mistake? Will this be changed? |

Hi! It wasn't a mistake; it was part of a large PR to make many icons (~500) less blurred when rendered at 16x16 px (which is the default size for icons in VS Code). See #2225. However, in this case, it might have ended up being too big compared to the previous one, because it doesn't respect the margins: It might be worth revisiting this one. |

So, I've been doing some experimentation with this one and this is the result so far, compared with the old and current icons: The new one is a bit smaller than the current icon (the current doesn't have any margins and that's why it's bigger), but still tries to be pixel perfect at 16x16 and it looks a bit sharper than the older one. It's not exactly the official rust logo, but a minimalist version... I think it's easier to recognize when rendered at such a small resolution. @PKief, what do you think? |
