npm install --dev failed when executing 'node-pre-gyp install --fallback-to-build #33

I don't know the exact detail of why this kind of crash happened, as I am a beginner to MEAN stack. I used meanjs to get the full stack template of it, and when I hit 'npm install --dev', I got the following messages

I think that when executing the command 'node-pre-gyp install --fallback-to-build', an error occurred, creating others. But just in case, I copied & pasted the error log message below.

I'm having this same problem. Any ideas?

Node: v7.2.0
NPM: v4.0.2

v8-debug does not work with Node 7, try downgrading to 6.

I have downgraded to 6.6.0 from 7.2.0 and it works again. I originally had the error on 6.3.0 which I upgraded to the latest, but I'll have to wait until 7.x.x support comes in before I update.
