Kivy stands for...

I am new to Kivy and I'd like to know why Kivy has this name.
Is it an acronym or a wordplay?
I cannot find this information in any documentation.

Just for the record, the name kivy refers to the kiwi animal, but is not related to any aspect of the framework functionalities or to its development history. Instead it has been chosen for practical reasons.
I posted the same question on Discord and one of the core developers (tito) kindly answered to my curiosity.
