I won't start arguing about legality, but here we're just using Spotify playlists, and the music comes through the free YouTube API. |

This work is absolutely outstanding, thank you very much! A few questions on this one. Hoping it helps with documenting it in more detail. When I play a spotify playlist, I can't find a way to know which playlist is being played (I only see the song and the queue). Is there a way to get this information? I suppose since the provider does not use spotify connect, there's no way to control music through the spotify app once playback starts with music assistant? What's the easiest way to get the shareable link that spotify would offer directly from music assistant? |

On your first question you won’t see the name of the playlist as the playlist just populates the player queue. You can add multiple playlists or tracks to the queue and then manipulate the queue from there. yes MA sets up the stream to play to the speaker so Spotify won’t have visibility of that. Not sure what you are asking in your last question…? |

I am unable to login to Spotify using the docker version of the app using the default settings on an ESXi hosted Ubuntu. After entering name/password, the screen never updates. To the extent it helps, as a test I was able to login and setup Spotify on a separate HassOS fresh install on the same ESXi host. I also tried copying the /data directory from the working HassOS test installation to the Docker-based installation. |

Hi there, I'm new to MA and have a question about the view of library items. If I add an artist from Spotify for example, then view that artist in library, it doesn't show any items (see first image). I need to switch the library-view to Spotify and back once everytime to have the items in general library-view (second image). Is that normal behavior?

It’s hard to say at the moment. There is a bug in that functionality. What should happen is that you see what is in your library when you have “Bibliothek” selected. In your case you appear to have no tracks from Linkin Park in your library. |

Thanks for your explanation. But now I have a question to the intended behavior. You said: If I put the artist Linkin Park from Spotify to my library, but I don't do that with any of their tracks or albums, nothing will show up under Linkin Park in my library? So in reverse I have to add every track and album of an artist to the library to see them there? Because I thought if I add an artist to the library, all tracks and albums would be there automatically. Same with albums: do I have to add every track of an album separately? |

No if you add an album you get all tracks of the album. In regards to general behaviour I understand streaming platforms work similarly. I use Spotify and if add an Artist to the Library I just see a placeholder for that Artist. I can then select that Artist and see additional tracks and albums which is the same way MA will show tracks and albums if you change the filter. Having said all of that there have been similar requests so perhaps there will be time in the future to add the functionality to automatically include all associated tracks and albums of an artist. |

In my case that doesn't work. If I add an album it's empty and I have to either switch from library to spotify or add every track one by one. |

Yes there is already RADIO MODE available. Find a track and right click on it (or long press) to bring up the menu and then select START RADIO |

Not to my knowledge. The latest version of the HA integration has the voice functionality built in so we acknoledge JLo's awesome work but have built our own. See here https://github.com/music-assistant/hass-music-assistant and https://github.com/orgs/music-assistant/discussions/710#discussioncomment-7987528 I have started an internal discussion as to whether we want to try and support this mode. |

Would it be possible to make it configurable whether your liked Spotify songs are automatically added to the Music Assistant Library? I like to only have my local file albums in the Library, and then have Spotify options come up when you search for any other music that's not local. |

I must be overlooking something, but I cannot find a way to add Spotify as a player? I have a Spotify connect device and an old android phone running Spotify that is attached to my Hifi in order to control it from my actual phone. What I want is to add these "speakers" or better yet playback devices but I don't see a way to do it. Is this not an intented use case yet? |

this is not supported. you could use snapdroid and snapcast for the old phone, and you will have to use another of the supported protocols for the other device. |

I like the spotify add-in but i get As a result the Spotify provider is very slow.
I don't see any option for this in MA settings, so i have HA Spotify service (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/spotify/) installed with clientID. |

Yes great, with beta the rate limit error is gone. Any idea why my local metadata (artist.jpg) is put aside by Spotify provider? It looks like MA is still using artist.nfo and fanart.jpg from the remote share. For example Radiohead is now their Spotify logo after installing the provider.
Some other artist thumbs changed too or are even empty. I do get some metadata errors in log. Thanks! |

We've got a family spotify account and each room has a voice assistant speaker using the extended open ai conversation. This all works great for asking for music to play from the main spotify account, but is there any way I can tie requests from specific speakers to use a specific spotify account? |

MA will use the originating Spotify account if playing a playlist. Beyond that why would you need to tie the account to a speaker? |

Because when they kids play music in their rooms it pollutes the recommendation algorithm for my account since that's the main account. At least it was the first account I added, I don't know if that makes it the main account. |

Question about Spotify Connect here. Music Assistant works fine for me with Spotify and Sonos in general. However when I start music using the Spotify App, Music Assistant just says "external source active: Spotify Connect", while the Sonos App gives me exact information about the title etc. Is it possible to make MA get the title information from Spotify Connect as well? |

Hi all, having issues authenticating Spotify. The Spotify window opens when I click authenticate and I confirm my user. But when I try to save the authentication on MA it times out. See fault log below. Any help would be much appreciated. 2024-11-05 13:52:34.830 INFO (MainThread) [music_assistant.hass] Connection to HA lost. Connection will be automatically retried later. |

Yeah ok, thanks for your help. I've fully disabled my laptop firewalls but made no difference. My network is a 5G ISP (Telstra) router to a Unifi switch which is connected to my Unifi cloud key gen 2.0 (which I use to manage LAN), laptop and raspberry pi with HAOS running over ethernet. I have set my own IP addresses on the router and switch different to the default 192.168.#.#. But that's about all. I'm not a network wizard but I think my local network is a native VLAN. Would this be an issue? |
