Many of you perhaps would have seen this piece of news - https://www.news18.com/viral/bengaluru-auto-driver-slaps-woman-after-she-cancels-ola-ride-internet-calls-for-his-arrest-9039980.html#goog_rewarded
about how a driver assaulted a potential passenger. Heated arguments quickly escalated to physical abuse and may have led to more harm.
I want to in (several) ways make sure that there are safety mechanisms in the app, strict onboarding or perhaps some kind of due diligence done with background checks and regular processing of feedback to make sure we can sense these from a mile away.
Perhaps another way of making sure that increased levels of frustration isn't faced at both the ends- driver and passenger we should evaluate such scenarios and insert fail safe mechanisms to prevent them from occurring.
Before I take this further as a proposal for features etc just starting a discussion here to collect some feedback and thoughts on this matter.
(This could very well have been a namma yatri passenger...)
