This should close preservim#510
@Melkster I've implemented this on my fork and sent a PR to @plasticboy to merge soon. You can use my fork first if you're in a hurry. The master already includes this change. |

It would be nice if vim-markdown concealed the backspace when using it as an escape character, for instance when writing
\*
