item.funcargs["my_fixture"] vs getfixturevalue("my_fixture")

Is there any difference between the two calls?
I have the impression that they are equivalent and return the same value.

@pytest.hookimpl(hookwrapper=True)
def pytest_runtest_makereport(item, call):
    # some code here
    the_fixture = item.funcargs["my_fixture"])
    the_fixture = (item.funcargs["request"]).getfixturevalue("my_fixture")
    # some more code here
