sbt --version and sbt -V create a new target/ directory

steps

sbt -V

problem

the tool creates a folder named target in the current working directory for no reason

expectation

1. it doesn't create target
2. one idea suggested by @BalmungSan is to forward to --script-version when a build isn't detected
