Hi all! My name is Roman. I'm the creator of the Dependency Injector framework - a dependency injection framework for Python. I started working on this project in 2015. In 2021, it became the top 1 Python dependency injection framework by the number of downloads and took the first position in Google for the query "python dependency injection".
Currently, I'm working as a VP of Engineering at Portside, Inc. Portside is a group of companies that creates software for business aviation. I was the first Python engineer in the company back in 2018. In 2018 it used to be a small Silicon Valley-founded and funded startup. Right now it's already 250 people. My current job is more of a managerial kind, however, I sometimes work on DevOps tasks. I like Terraform, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes.
I didn't get my VP job from day 1. I used to be a software developer. I started my career in 2007, worked with the LAMP stack, and then switched to Python in 2013. As a Python engineer, I worked as a tech lead at Cisco for almost 6 years in two different security departments. There are many sophisticated software development projects under my belt, but Dependency Injector is the most impactful one.
At the moment, I still love Python, but I also became what I call "technology agnostic". It doesn't mean that I can code in any language. It means that I don't hesitate to learn new technologies and languages. Terraform, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Citrix, .NET, React Native, Rust, you name it - those all sound appealing to me. Being proficient in all of them is somewhere between super hard and impossible, but I don't hesitate to give them all a try if I have a good chance of doing so.
