Is this for real?

I just started an hour ago and am on step 2 and have had issues with both steps. Before I invest more time can anyone reply and let me know if this is legit and works?

I will describe the issues.

1. I created a discussion complete with a link to the YouTube video and references to times at which what happened on my machine was different from what was on the video and how. That discussion is NOT here.
2. I this video, at 0:28, after installing on MacOS with Homebrew, I only have the SQLPage file no folders. I've reinstalled multiple times with no different result.
3. When I open the folder with VS Code, nothing happens the in the video at 0:53 you can see something happens there, but nothing happens for me. Also, I have downloaded the files in the link in the video comments and placed them in the folder, but still nothing happens.
4. About 0:55 in the video, he says when you launch VS Code for the first time it creates an SQLite database "right here" while he hovers the mouse over the SQLPage.db file that Homebrew installed.
5. The SQLPage_demo.db file that I downloaded from the link in the video comments to the google drive folder can't be opened by VS Code.
6. The MacOS installer (which is not referenced in the video at all) doesn't work. After you bypass security concerns, it says it is not in a supported format.

That's as far as I've gotten because my brain is telling me this is not real or it's a scam or something.

Can anyone verify it works? Can anyone help me gain a better understanding of the issues I have described above?

When you install SQLPage via Homebrew, it only installs the core program—it doesn’t include the demo project from the downloadable ZIP you see in the video.

Also, VSCode doesn’t open SQLite (.db) files by default. If you want to look at your database directly from VSCode, you can install an extension like SQLite Viewer. Alternatively, you can use an external program like DBeaver which is illustrated in the video.

Regarding the “MacOS installer” you mentioned: SQLPage comes as a single, self-contained executable. Once you’ve installed it using Homebrew, there’s nothing extra to install.

Here’s what you can do next:

1. Open a Terminal in VSCode’s (with the Ctrl + Backtick shortcut).
2. Type sqlpage and press Enter. This will start SQLPage.
3. Open your web browser and go to http://localhost:8080/ to see your site.
4. In VSCode, create a file called index.sql and add your SQL queries. Your browser will show the query results when you refresh the page.

The easy way

If setting this up feels a bit tricky, you might try DataPage Editor. It provides a pre-configured SQLPage instance that you can access from anywhere—no downloads or configurations required.

Thanks for this info. It is a bit frustrating that you cannot follow along in the video and the that video doesn't mention there is an extension needed.

I'll try this. I have VS Code, Azure DS, and DBeaver installed and have been using them for quite some time. My frustration has stemmed from the inconsistencies in the very first steps and tutorials.
