Sometimes some nodes look good when they're autolayouted vertically and (imagination tells me) the whole picture would look nice if some others were autolayouted horizontally. So one - ability to have two modes for autolayout would be nice (Horizontal and Vertical + keybindings for them).
2. Autolayout available also when some nodes are selected (applies only to those nodes)
On top of it, if it becomes possible to select some of the nodes, and apply Horizontal or Vertical Autolayout to only those particular nodes - then it'll result in even prettier statecharts. Sometimes, some compound state nodes take too much horizontal space and make the whole picture unnecessarily wide (meaning they'd be better off vertically aligned). These two features will prevent such cases from occuring.
