Hello,
Toward the top of the README, under "Release", are the following statements:

We recommend using the 2 tag on docker hub (thomseddon/traefik-forward-auth:2).

You can also use the latest incremental releases found on docker hub and github.

However the latest release (v2.3.0) does not appear to be on docker hub, meaning that the version on docker hub is actually 4 years old and has a few issues (I personally ran into #358, I assume there are others). There seem to a statement somewhere (referenced here) that docker hub is no longer being updated, but it's not clear if there's a replacement source of container images or if everyone is just expected to build them themselves.

This looks like a really promising project but the distribution options have me concerned. Thanks.

It seems concerning to me that there are this many copies of the project, some with high download counts.

@project Maintainers: Do you want / need support regarding the distribution of Docker images?

Just a heads up that this is an unmaintained project
