Add link to store permissions docs from Umbraco Commerce configuration docs #6867
Comments
@sofietoft I can change the page https://docs.umbraco.com/umbraco-commerce/tutorials/getting-started-with-commerce#accessing-store-permissions-in-umbraco-commerce and add some text below users with the relevant info? |
@MrEssCee That would be awesome!! 😄 @mattbrailsford - where exactly should the extra information about the user permissions be added? On the configuration article or in the tutorial? 😅 I'm not really clear on that, so before we hand out the task, it would be great to get that nailed down 💪 |
So it's probably the Configuration page that needs updating (https://docs.umbraco.com/umbraco-commerce/getting-started/umbraco-configuration) I've had reports that people find it confusing that after they've gained access to the commerce section they still can't see their stores, and that's because they need to set permissions for access to each store as documented here https://docs.umbraco.com/umbraco-commerce/tutorials/getting-started-with-commerce#accessing-store-permissions-in-umbraco-commerce So either some kind of note that says the next steps is to setup store permissions linking to the store permissions page, or some duplication of those docs to make it clearer at the setup stage of commerce. |
Aha. That makes sense 🤔 I think this information should live on a reference article, and not a tutorial, as that is part of a "flow". Thoughts? |
yea, make sense. It's just always tricky with this because you've first got to go through the process of creating a store, and then setting the permissions. So it's a little "chicken and egg" situation. But I'm happy with your suggestion if we can make it work. Maybe in the config docs we can keep it simple and 1) create a store giving it a name and just let it populate with all the details and 2) docs to set permissions. Then maybe this can link to the tutorial for more info on all the other options within the store setup they might want to configure. |
Actually, to keep it even simpler: And then in the config article, we add a line with a link to that article. |
Sounds good to me 👍 I think as long as there is some kind of trial it should be good |
Yes, I agree 💪 So, @MrEssCee - a lot of discussion here 😅
You up for it? 😎 |
@sofietoft Yea sure made a change, not quite sure if its what you wanted? Also would be amazing if you could look at my other PRs too 😄? |

Umbraco Commerce
Describe the issue
We need to add a link from this page https://docs.umbraco.com/umbraco-commerce/getting-started/umbraco-configuration to this page https://docs.umbraco.com/umbraco-commerce/tutorials/getting-started-with-commerce#accessing-store-permissions-in-umbraco-commerce highlighting that once you've set users permissions to the commerce section, you still need to create a store and allow the current user to manage that store via the store settings > permissions tab
