Hi - running it at 2048x858 would result in huge GUI elements I think so I don't recommend that. But this is a strange resolution, entry level M2 should be able to provide up to 3072px HiDPI horizontally. HiDPI resolutions have 4x the pixel content (2x horizontally, 2x vertically) so 2048px would actually be 4096px which is then scaled back to the native - so it's supersampling not downscaling. |

Hi I have a 3440x1440 160hz ultrawide that I want to use as a external display for my base model macbook m2. I am unsure If i should run it at native resolution or use better display to run it at 2048x858 HiDpi (this is the largest HiDpi res available). Why would it be beneficial to run it with a HiDpi res? I get that macos will render it at a greater resolution and then downscale but wouldn't it just be better to run at native resolution. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a stupid question
