Addresses conversation in #4353.
We've decided not to expose the affiliation field for direct editing, at least not via the dialog. It can, however, still be manipulated in the raw JSON dataset. Note there is a related issue that affiliation and variant don't seem to be dumped to the JSON file used by hugo.
