Thanks for this pull request !

+1 for the PHP implementation
However, can we work on it before merging ?

It kind of misses the point of appstatus to support pluggable checkers, with logic and not only REST services tests

Cloud you try to use https://github.com/appstatus/appstatus/tree/master/appstatus-core/src/main/java/net/sf/appstatus/core/check as model and allow to add independent checker classes.
then move you rest service checking code to these classes ?
