Hi @jonbackhaus 👋, Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to contribute this PR. We are interested in learning a bit about your scenario/usage for Wolfi. Why did you choose Wolfi over other Linux distros? Additionally, we're curious if you encountered any issues while using Dev Containers with Ubuntu/Debian distros. Thank you! |
All fair questions. I'll also admit that I did these a bit out of order; I'm going to have another couple PRs coming here shortly. I currently use the Python (Debian) dev container image as a base for a custom image. I'm looking at Alpine, but given the similarities and 0 CVE footprint, I was also looking at Wolfi. |
Thanks @jonbackhaus ! As Alpine remains a viable alternative, I propose that we hold off on adding Wolfi support for now. I believe it would be prudent to wait until we receive more feedback or discern more significant interest from the community. This approach allows us to allocate our resources more effectively and ensure that our efforts align with user needs. Let's stay tuned for any updates or signals from our community before proceeding further. |
Support of wolfi images for devcontainers would be very helpful, since they provider high quality regarding CVEs, support of SBOM. Eventuelly the OCI devcontainer feature artifact should incorporate SBOM as well. |
Adds support for the Wolfi Linux Distribution from Chainguard.
